On Fridays, I focus on laughing. So much of my life is serious. I’ve said before that I am decidedly not the fun parent. I am more the “make sure we eat, have toilet paper, and clean clothes” parent. But, I also recognize that laughter has amazing healing and de-stressing powers. Throughout my stem cell transplant and recovery over the last year I have harnessed laughter’s healing powers. I have really only watched and read things that make me laugh. Nothing scary, sad, or intense. Mostly Netflix comedy specials, sitcoms of today and yesterday, and a decent sampling of chick lit. What a great thing to sit down and just laugh for hours.
Ian also starting to think that those laughter yoga people know what is up.
I hope that these videos bring you back and bring a smile to your face. I totally shared these songs (but not videos) with my kiddos. We all laughed together, and it brought smiles to the tired Friday after school hours. (Because I think we know happy hour is not always what it used to be).
I hope they make you laugh, too. Happy Friday.
(Special shout out to my dad whose light-hanging skills circa 1990 are totally captured in this song. xoxo)
And I made it my personal goal to learn all of the words to this song when I was in junior high despite having no ties to the Jewish faith at that time. I believe this sparked my ability to memorize and recite Adam Sandler’s comedy. A talent which eventually wooed my husband. It still makes him laugh when I say a random Billy madison or Happy Gilmore quote.
What’s your favorite way to spark laughter?
