Parenting, like all things in life, requires balance. After years of trying to live up to my own sky high expectations, I’ve decided trade in perfectionism for what some dub “good enough” parenting/eating/living. At this point, I’m just looking for some balance.
I’m Joelle (aka Jo or JoJo), a thirty something mom of three littles, lover of chai tea, memoirs, & the Bachelor. Wife of a cross fit junkie, blogger navigating parenthood’s rough seas. I like country music, stand up comedy, kind people, Mexican food and drive-in move theaters. My favorite things to do are write, bake with my kids, attempt to color inside the lines, read, and practice Pilates and Yoga. I also really like to laugh. Especially at myself.
Parenting is really (really!) hard. If you disagree you either a) are lying b) have easier kids than I do or c) are a better parent than I am. Maybe the answer is d) all of the above. Whatever you are dealing with, we are all in this together. In my opinion, we are all looking for the answers, and I suggest they might lie in achieving balance. To use parenting as an example, when my kids watch too much TV they bounce off the walls. When they watch no TV at all I want to throw things at the walls. Similarly, it turns out one actually can eat too much chocolate, but should also consider the health benefits of chocolate, especially on snow days.
I hope you join me on this crazy journey we call life with kids as I explore the self realizations that surface in the ups and downs of parenting. In the end, this blog is a little bit of everything. What I mean is, sometimes it will be funny, sometimes my writing will be more serious, and sometimes it will just be a dessert recipe I need to share with my peeps. My kids are crazy, but I love them. I’m a little crazy, and they love me, too. Come along and see what happens when I stop trying to be perfect, and start being honest. The real world: parenting 🙂
